Mechatronics at a tech university · switching to ECE · US MEng · 3rd year
What they came in with
A question about how to spend their junior year. Mechatronics, switching to ECE, aiming at a US MEng — and two or three interviews already in motion.

Where it actually got stuck
Not the background — the choice. Three interviews running, a wish to stay broad rather than lock in too early, and the knowledge that not all of them would land. And if none did, those months would simply go empty.
What the thirty minutes were for
First, hearing how each interview had actually felt — that instinct carries more information than people expect. Then holding each one against the background they already have, to see which is worth the most later on, rather than which sounds best now.
And a fallback
If none of the three landed, take the lab position. That was my suggestion — those months cannot sit empty, because an empty stretch is not something a resume gets back.
No single right order
Same three interviews, a different background, and the order comes out different. So the half hour went on looking at what they actually held, then deciding what moves first.
“Booked 30 minutes, ran over and added more XD. The plan hit exactly the right points — I finally knew how to use this year.”
